Safe Side Security, Inc.: Business Alarm Systems - Good Reasons to ...

Businesses today need some extra security. The most important aspect of your business security will of course be access control.

The business access control is generally electronic in nature. It will use a device that requires a code to be punched in, a specific card to be read, or a thumbprint to be used to assure that you are the proper person with authorization to use the facility.

When you use this type of a business security system, you are able to control who has access to your facility, or to certain portions of it. In addition to providing control of access, a more upscale business may select to also gain a record of not only what areas were accessed but also to whom that access was given.

The options for your business security these days are virtually endless. The wide array of business security systems that are now offered means that protecting your business can be easier than ever.

You may detect the intrusion of others, you may prevent the loss of money or products by employees, and you may protect against fire and other natural disasters using the same business alarm system that you do to deter theft and intrusion.

One huge benefit that the installation of a security system for your business can offer is that you will likely see a significant reduction in your insurance payments each month as well. Most insurance companies offer a discounted price on your premiums if you have certain kinds of a business alarm system installed that limits access and detects fire.

You will also make your employees feel more secure when you install a business alarm system and that can be good for productivity. When you prevent loss by employee theft, other employees feel more secure in the knowledge that they will be unlikely to be suspect. They are also more assured when an intrusion into the area is more unlikely.

When it comes down to the best reason for the installation of a good business security system, it is simply that you can limit the risk to your business and raise your bottom line.

?If Martha Stewart was convicted, why no one from Goldman Sachs ...

Punch line: Liberals do an excellent job painting conservatives as heartless, greedy villains.? Frank Luntz ? right leaning pollster ?? fights back with some survey results that debunk some myths about conservatives

* * * * *
Excerpted from the Washington Post: Five myths about conservative voters

Myth #1. Conservatives care most about the size of government.

conservatives don?t want a reduced government so much as one that works better and wastes less.

In a poll we completed among self-identified conservatives just before the 2010 elections,?efficient? and ?effective? government clearly beat ?less? and ?smaller? government.

For conservatives, this debate is less about size than about results, along with a demand that elected officials demonstrate accountability and respect for the taxpayer, regardless of whether they?re spending $1 million or $1 trillion.

Myth #2. Conservatives want to deport all illegal immigrants.

Yes, conservatives want effective border control right away. And more than 80 percent are dissatisfied with America?s immigration system. Conservatives don?t want to round up all the illegal immigrants and deport them.

But, conservatives embrace legal immigration. A solid majority believe that there should be an eventual path to earned legal status.

According to our polling in November, seven in 10 conservatives agree with the following statement: ?America?s immigration policy should consist of tall fences and wide gates. We need to aggressively prevent illegal immigration, but let those stay that have worked hard and demonstrated a real, measurable commitment to this country through military or public service.?

Myth #3. They worship Wall Street.

Conservatives are highly critical of Wall Street and wholeheartedly celebrate Main Street.

The business leaders that conservatives respect most are entrepreneurs, not chief executives; conservatives value small-business owners above big bankers.

In a poll conducted early this year, I asked conservatives whom they most trusted to get our country on the right economic track. By nearly two to one, they chose small-business owners over corporate America (only ?political leaders? did worse).

Most agree with moderates and liberals that things on Wall Street have gotten out of hand. They believe that those who abuse the system should be held accountable and that those who work hard and play by the rules should be free to advance.

Myth #4. Conservatives want to slash Social Security and Medicare.

Conservatives want the programs strengthened, not dismantled. They know Social Security & Medicare need reform, but they want changes to be effective and reasonable.

Conservatives believe in such simple principles as personal choice and greater competition, and they are more confident than liberals in people?s ability to make the right decisions.

For example, 78 percent agree with the statement: ?Increasing patient choice in Medicare will help save Medicare from bankruptcy. When patients can shop for better care . . . it will force insurance companies to compete against each other, which lowers costs and increases care.?

Myth #5. Conservatives don?t care about inequality.

Fully 66 percent of conservatives consider the growing gap between the rich and the poor a ?problem,?? while 21 percent call it a ?crisis.?

The big difference between left and right is the difference between opportunity and outcome.

Conservatives want to increase opportunity, giving everyone the freedom and tools to prosper, so that the poor may someday become rich.

Liberals want to redistribute income, making the rich ? quite simply ? less rich.

* * * * *

Bonus Myth. Conservatives don?t want regulations enforced.

Conservatives also believe that we need better enforcement of the regulations we already have, not more rules.

Like all Americans, they are outraged that there hasn?t been a single prosecution by the Obama administration for the corporate abuses that led to the economic meltdown.

As a focus group participant once asked: ?If Martha Stewart was convicted, why no one from Goldman Sachs??

Getting The Latest Models With Kitchen Cabinets San Jose Area ...

One of the rooms in a home that often is in dire need of re modeling is the kitchen. Over the years, it becomes dirty from smoke, foods that are spilled, dust, and other things. The cabinets become stained, paint peels, and so forth. When it gets in this shape, a kitchen cabinets San Jose company should be consulted regarding new cabinets.

This kind of replacement is not something that occurs every day. Therefore, when shopping, it is important to look for the best quality possible. Certain points should be especially noted.

First, check and see if the unit has the same wood throughout. This is especially important as sometime inexpensive melamine or laminate will be substituted on the sides. Good cabinets will have a quality wood veneer or regular wood on these sites.

No matter how careful a person is, things are spilled when cooking. For this reason, it is important that the cupboard shelves are water resistant. This makes it easy to wipe up any spills. This finish also is resistant to stains.

Construction of the drawers should be carefully looked at. It is important that they not only work smoothly but that their drawer guides can support up to 75 pounds. They should also have dovetail solid wood finishes. With frameless cabinets the boxes should be made of metal or solid wood dovetailed construction.

The finish on the cupboards is very important if it is to blend with the rest of the decor. With factory made cabinets, the exterior is finished by baking on a finish that will not crack and is easy to clean. This is superior to spraying a finish on unpainted units. The latter does not properly set and has a tendency to not wear well. Putting in new cabinets is an investment in both time and money. To get the very best models on the market a consultation should be held with a Kitchen Cabinets San Jose company.

Elements of a Good Home Security System

?

When you decide that you want to invest in a security system for your home, it makes sense to choose one that?s going to provide you with the best possible quality for what you can afford. ?Home security is no trivial matter, and if you really want to protect your family, your possessions and your house, it makes sense to seek out a system that has all of the features you want. ?Make sure that you pay attention and watch out for the elements of a good home security system when you first start looking. ?This way, you will avoid paying too much and you?ll get all of the features that will keep your home safe. ?

?

Two way voice communication and wireless window and door contact are two elements you should look for in a good security system. ?These kinds of features help with your peace of mind because you know that any kind of attempt to break in while you sleep or while you?re away will be properly addressed. ?An interior siren is another beneficial element that can go a long way to scaring off an intruder if someone does manage to get inside. ?When you know that your home is monitored around the clock, you will be able to live your life without having to worry about security. ?

?

A wireless motion detector is another feature that can catch any would-be intruders off guard, and activate the security system. ?Of course, you?ll also want a key pad or some other form of control panel where you can set the system and run it on your end. ?A good security company will provide the tools and the instructions on how to use them, so you can be a veritable expert on the system, too. ?The instruction element is quite important, because you don?t want to trigger too many false alarms when you come home or are trying to set it up. ?

?

The ability to meet your budget is also an important element for any security system. ?Some companies charge quite a lot for installation and monthly monitoring of the system. ?If possible, try to find a company who doesn?t charge at all for installation, and who has a lower monitoring cost than the competitors. ?A strong warranty on the equipment is a big benefit, as are extras like more door or window contacts as part of the package. ?Take the time to work out a budget ahead of time and ask questions to make sure the costs fit within it. ?

?

Aside from the security system itself, it?s also a good idea to sign on with a company that has a good deal of experience and a proven track record of success. ?Ask around your neighborhood or look on the company website for testimonials from customers. ?At the end of the day, you want to feel safe and secure and you don?t want to pay a fortune every month to achieve this. ?Pay attention and ask the right questions and you?ll be sure to find a system that works great for you and your family. ?

Lenovo shows off ThinkStation E31 workstation in two different sizes

Image

Don't let that headline fool you: although Lenovo technically just unveiled one product, the ThinkStation E31 workstation, it actually shoehorned two distinct machines into one press release. Behold: a budget workstation available as a conventionally sized tower, as well as compact one. Whichever you choose, both support up to 32GB of RAM and are available with either an Intel Xeon E3-1200 CPU or a range of Ivy Bridge processors. Regardless of the size, you'll get nine USB ports, including four of the 3.0 variety. And, in addition to Windows 7 / XP, they're Windows 8-ready, and can run Red Hat as well.

It's at this juncture, though, that the specs start to diverge, with the heftier machine naturally offering more expandability. The full-size tower, for instance, can accommodate up to three HDDs, or 9TB of hard drive storage, while the smaller number makes room for two HDDs, or 6TB of space. (Either way, you can opt for solid-state drives.) On the graphics front, both will be offered with Intel's HD P4000 solution, but the upgrade options once again differ: expect a max offering of NVIDIA Quadro Q4000 graphics on the tower, and Quadro Q600 on the smaller guy. Intrigued? Both systems will start at $629, with the fuller-sized tower arriving on June 5th and the compact model following on June 13th.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the tablet of all tablets, or just another tablet swimming in the sea? Read the review to find out!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

While we aim to find the perfect Android handset to accompany our daily lives, the struggle continues far beyond that. With Android tablets ranging from low end to high end with various price points and feature sets, figuring out which tablet is right for you is no simple task. Last year we saw Samsung introduce the original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, at the time it was a flagship device and people could not get enough. A year later we are introduced to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the new dog in town.

Could Samsung out do what they brought to the table last year, and have a knock out device to put in our hands? Let's hit the break and check out how the Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1 tablet compares in the world of Android tablets, and see if this may just end up being your very next tablet.

The Good

While packing a 10.1 inch display, the overall device is very lightweight and extremely thin. The layout allows for easy access to buttons, and it can be charged while still in use without affecting your grip.

The Bad

Samsung has chosen to lay their TouchWiz over top of a mostly stock ICS, The cameras are far from ideal, and while the speakers are well placed, they could use some improvement as well.

Conclusion

For the price point and features you will receive, the Samsung Tab 2 10.1 brings the best of a middle range pricing to high end specs. The 10.1 inch display is a beauty, and Ice Cream Sandwich performs very well on the device.

Six-Year-Old Records Unassisted Triple Play in Little League Game

Only 15 players in Major League Baseball history have ever turned an unassisted triple play. In 120 YEARS. Now a six-year-old has joined the club!

Due in large part to terrible base-running by his opponents, but still.

In a youth baseball game in Georgia, a soft line drive floated directly to shortstop Ross Bernath, who nabbed it cleanly, raced back to touch third base, then chased down the somehow-still-advancing runner from second. Score it 5, unassisted!

The only sad part? Ross' career may have just peaked.

Total Recall 'Mind-Bending' Blu-ray remembers a better looking video transfer July 31st

Total Recall 'Mind-Bending' Blu-ray remembers a better looking video transfer July 31st

After a disappointing initial go-round on Blu-ray back in '06 due to poor picture quality (which was improved upon slightly in a later Studiocanal release overseas), the 1990 version of Total Recall is coming back to the US with a "Mind-Bending Blu-ray Edition this summer. Timed to hit shelves along with the remake that's arriving in theaters, Blu-ray.com mentions this one promises a video transfer process supervised by original director Paul Verhoeven. There will even apparently be brand new extras including an interview with Verhoeven and featurette comparing the restoration process from the original film negative, although the Governator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger appears to be absent. The new version should run $14.99 when it arrives July 31st, assuming you're not already camped out for the Colin Farrell / Kate Beckinsale / Jessica Biel flick which opens up August 3rd. Theatrical trailers for both versions follow after the break.

E-Onkyo music service becomes first to offer Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio

Image

Looking for something a little more than your average online music store has to offer? Then you may soon want to give Onkyo's somewhat niche e-onkyo service some consideration. It's set to be the first store to offer music in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 -- something that will initially be limited to just 100 albums (heavy on the classical, from the looks of things) and require a compatible Onkyo receiver. Those downloads will also only be available in Japan initially (where they're rolling out on May 30th), but Dolby says they'll be available "elsewhere in the world" sometime this fall. Not surprisingly, that new option will demand a bit of a premium as well, with albums starting at ¥3,000 (or about $35) and singles setting you back ¥400 (or $5).

Tyga's 'Leaving Stuff Behind' On 'I'm Gone' With Big Sean

'When I made this record, I was just like, 'Sean would be dope on this,' ' Tyga says of adding Big Sean to the song.

Tyga and Big Sean display quite the chemistry on "I'm Gone," the new, heartfelt single off of the Cali MC's sophomore album, Careless World. But the song only tells half the story.

This week Tyga premiered the song's Colin Tilley-directed video as an MTV Jam of the Week. MTV News caught up with the pair back in April when they shot the clip in a Lynwood, California, warehouse.

"The video concept is me leaving stuff behind, like my girl, and then driving the car, then nobody driving the car," Tyga explained.

His description may have seemed a bit cryptic then, but now that the visuals have finally dropped, it all makes sense. Opening with a shot of the Young Money rap standout sitting alone on a barstool with his head hung low, it is clear that the bright lights have taken their toll on Tyga's love life. "Looking around glass, my future is in the past/ I'm rearranging my life, I'm single and now I laugh," he spits to begin the song.

The somber track is quite emotional and wouldn't seem to call for a guest verse. In fact, Tyga first intended for the single to be a solo affair, but when it was complete, he just heard a spot for his buddy Sean.

"When I made this record, I was just like, 'Sean would be dope on this,' " the tatted-up rapper said. "The record was already done — that's why Big Sean is at the end of it. We made the beat longer because I was just like, 'Let's just add him to it.' "

Sean, who closes the track out with reflective lyrics of his own, jumped on the song without hesitation. "I had already liked it off the rip, I liked the sample, I liked the vibe of it," he told us. "He sent me the song and it was perfect. I remember I had just got done with my show in Houston. I knocked it out right after."

In fact, Sean's voice was still hoarse from the performance he delivered just hours before, but it all worked out in the end. "My voice was half gone — I don't know if people could tell, but my voice was damn near gone when I recorded it," he revealed. "I just came up with the whole thing on the spot."

What do you think of Tyga's "I'm Gone" video? Let us know in the comments!

New shear touch technology lets you skip a double-tap, push your device around (video)

Shear touch on Engadget's site

Most every touchscreen in the market today can only register your finger input as coordinates; that's fine for most uses, but it leads to a lot of double-taps and occasionally convoluted gestures. A pair of researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, Chris Harrison and Scott Hudson, have suggested that shear touch might be a smarter solution. Instead of gliding over fixed glass, your finger could handle secondary tasks by pushing in a specific direction, or simply pushing harder, on a sliding display. Among the many examples of what shear touch could do, the research duo has raised the possibility of skipping through music by pushing left and right, or scrolling more slowly through your favorite website with a forceful dragging motion. The academic paper is still far away from producing a shipping device, although a Microsoft doctoral fellowship's partial contribution to funding the study indicates one direction the technology might go. You can take a peek at the future in a video after the jump -- just don't expect a tablet-based Van Gogh this soon.

[Thanks, Chris]

Editorial: Facebook's my digital scrapbook first, social network second

facebook timeline wall

I never wanted to join Facebook. I never wanted to join anything online, really. I was coerced into creating a Xanga at some point, and eventually -- when Facebook opened up to NC State email addresses -- I begrudgingly created an account there, too. I had a "thing" about opening my life up to the internet. I knew already that prospective employers would inevitably go digging through shots of me celebrating at an NCSU basketball game and spike my resume in the trash can beside his or her UNC degree. More than anything, though, I just didn't care what anyone else was doing. I kept a handful of comrades close to my chest, and everyone else was a mere acquaintance. At the time, I blamed it on the 21 hours of courses I was taking entirely on Tuesdays and Thursdays -- who has time for online networking when you're in an educational torture chamber? -- but now I realize the truth: I never wanted Facebook to be a social network.
