NCAA Wrap: La Salle falls to Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Pierria Henry scored 20 points to lead Charlotte past La Salle 74-65 Wednesday night in an Atlantic 10 matchup.

Victor E. Nickerson added 13 points, Darion Clark had 12 and DeMario Mayfield scored 10 for Charlotte (13-2).

Ahead 7-4 at the 16:06 mark in the first half, Charlotte ended the half on a 29-10 run.

Charlotte shot 46.4 percent (13 for 28) in the first half and held La Salle to 21.9 percent (7 for 32) shooting in the period to take a 33-17 lead into halftime.

Paced by Ramon Galloway's 17 points in the second half, La Salle cut the lead to single digits late, but Charlotte shot 50 percent (12 for 24) for the second half and knocked down 17 free throws in the period to seal the victory.

Galloway finished with game-highs of 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the Explorers (10-4).

Delaware 69, Hofstra 54

BOX SCORE

NEWARK, Del. -- Delaware guards Devon Saddler and Jarvis Threatt combined for 42 points to lead the Blue Hens to a 69-54 victory over Hofstra in a Colonial Athletic Association game Wednesday night.

Saddler, the league's leading scorer at 19.8 points per game, scored 23 on 9-of-14 shooting, while Threatt had 19 points, made 7 of 13 shots and came up with six steals. Kyle Anderson added 11 points.

The Blue Hens (7-8, 2-0) pulled away with a 16-3 run early in the second half that gave them a 47-33 lead with 13:25 remaining, and they never led by fewer than 11 points the rest of the way.

Daquan Brown came off the bench to score 13 points for the Pride (4-11, 1-1), the only Hofstra player to score in double figures.

Stephen Nwaukoni had 11 rebounds for Hofstra, which beat Georgia State 52-50 Monday night to end an eight-game losing streak.
