An Ada County grand jury has indicted a 21-year-old Boise woman accused of shooting a man to death then hiding his body under his house while she partied and spent his money.
Jordan Marie Shaver is to be arraigned Jan. 4 on felony charges of first-degree murder, robbery, grand theft, failure to report a death and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime.
Shaver has been in jail since Nov. 2, after police found the body of Brian Geddes, 49, wrapped in a comforter and stuffed under his trailer home in Garden City. Investigators believe he was killed Oct. 16.
Geddes? family was suspicious after not seeing him for weeks and finding Shaver in his home when they went to check on him. They told police she ran from the home near the Greenbelt when they confronted her.
Police arrested Shaver in the parking lot of Walmart. They say she had Geddes? cellphone with her.
Shaver told police she accidentally shot Geddes when he fixed her handgun and it discharged when he handed it back to her, according to court records. But an autopsy showed the gunshot to the back of Geddes? head was from a gun pressed against his head.
Authorities said Shaver and Geddes were romantically involved, but Geddes? family says he was just trying to help a young woman who said she had nowhere to go.
?She saw an easy target, somebody who couldn?t say no to anybody and always wanted to help anybody that he could,? said Aubray Phillips, Geddes? 26-year-old daughter.
The robbery and theft charges allege Shaver stole Geddes? car, home, phone, cash and other personal items.
Geddes, who Phillips said was an independent car dealer, also left behind a 22-year-old son and five grandchildren.
