Attorney Charles Ramson Jr. on Saturday launched the first online shopping website called buymygy.com, which gives businesspersons an opportunity to market their products on the Internet.
The launch of the company, similar to that of eBay was held in the conference room of Duke Lodge, Duke Street, Kingston. The company offers interested persons as low as Gy$500 per item per month to advertise.
The company?s office is located at 87F Albert Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, and will be opened for business on December 10.
Buymygy.com currently has the capacity to list thousands of items with pictures and details, including real estate, cars, trucks, mobile phones, TVs, furniture, refrigerators, household goods and appliances, hardware, jewellery and concert tickets, among others.
The website also has features such as filters and searches, similar to those on modern international websites.
At the launch, founder and co-owner of the online shopping company, Charles Ramson Jr., explained that the advertising is simple, noting that advertisers only have to take a picture of the item they want to advertise, send it with details to the company, and pay to have it on the site.
?This will be Guyana?s first true and main shopping website. And today, Internet is not only computers? It?s also mobile phones. So essentially, everyone everywhere, has or can have access,? Ramson Jr noted.
He further stated that sellers and buyers across Guyana can be more connected, noting that sellers will now be accessible to buyers and vice versa, regardless of their location.
?With the increased Internet accessibility, affordability, celerity, mobility and the One Laptop Per Family Programme, we believe that the circumstances are drastically different now. The Internet is here to stay and there is no question of its benefit,? he added.
The young attorney reiterated that Buymygy.com makes the trading process easy, more comprehensive and more accessible to everyone, adding that it will improve the symbiotic relationship between sellers and buyers.
He said that his new company will provide room for a new business model, especially for new or young entrepreneurs, and remove most of the cost of access to market.
Ramson Jr projected that in another month or two, an e-commerce component of the business will be introduced, which caters for PayPal and credit cards and a more advanced mobile payment, while the third phase will be the introduction of a low data mobile version of the website, and finally the creation of an app for easier use on phones and mobile devices.
He said the establishment of the business was an exhausting process, but at the same time it was one of the most exciting and satisfying experiences of his life. He also noted that the idea stemmed from an experience that he encountered three years ago when he wanted to sell a vehicle.
He thanked God, his parents, sister, friends and more importantly his partner and manager, Miss India Worldwide Alana Seebarran.
The young attorney?s mother, Teaching Service Commission Chairman Leila Ramson and Roraima Airways Managing Director Captain Gerry Gouveia were also present at the launch.
