General Electric Sponsor of Inclusive Face of America Bicycle Ride with Disabled Veterans

Non-profit World T.E.A.M. Sports welcomes General Electric as a sponsor for the organization's April 26-28 Face of America ride from the Pentagon to Gettysburg with disabled veterans.

World T.E.A.M. Sports CEO and President Paul Tyler announced today that General Electric (GE), a leader in energy, health and home, transportation and finance, has joined as a sponsor of the non-profit?s inclusive April 26-28 Face of America ride honoring disabled veterans.

GE is providing financial support for this year?s ride, which will travel 110 miles in two days from the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia to the historic battlefields of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. An expected 100 disabled veterans will ride hand cycles, recumbent bicycles and standard bicycles in the popular ride, which in 2012 included 500 participants from across the country. In addition to financial sponsorship, GE also is creating a participatory team that will allow employees to honor the veterans.

Participants of the Face of America ride will include veterans who live with disabilities ranging from loss of limb to blindness to Post Traumatic Stress. Participating veterans served America in wars from Afghanistan and Iraq to Vietnam. Active duty military and civilian riders will ride together with the adaptive veterans along Maryland?s scenic back roads and byways, ending at a celebration in Gettysburg April 28 that will include friends, family and area residents.

This year?s Face of America ride will be the 11th to be held by World T.E.A.M. Sports. Begun as a cross-country ride in 2000, the 2002 and 2003 rides served as the official 9/11 bicycle ride from Ground Zero in New York to the Pentagon. Since 2006, the Face of America has honored veterans of America?s military, including those with disabilities, on a Washington to Gettysburg route.
